Course Description:
This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to enable them to assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until medical assistance arrives.
Learning Objectives:
- Define the term allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
- Recognition of allergy and anaphylaxis
- Signs and symptoms of allergic reaction
- Risk factors
- Provide first aid management of severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
- Develop risk minimisation and management strategies for allergic reaction and anaphylaxis
- Action Plans
- Use of adrenaline autoinjector devices Epi Pen® Ana Pen®
- Communicate detail of the accident to Emergency services
Course Prerequisites:
No pre- requisites for this course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Course Format:
The course is delivered in a theoretical and practical format.
Course Length:
2 hours.
Qualification Issued:
On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited course - 22099VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis.
Certificate Validity:
The certificate is valid for 12 months from the completion date.
