Course Description:
This course is designed to provide First Aiders the skill to be able to administer oxygen therapy and/or oxygen resuscitation to a casualty until the arrival of medical assistance.
Learning Objectives:
- Assessing the need for oxygen administration
- Understanding equipment and delivery devices.
- Safety precautions, cleaning and disinfection of equipment
- Equipment familiarisation - assembly and disassembly
- Correct method of administration of oxygen
- Insertion of an oropharyngeal airway
Course Prerequisites:
Participants must be able to demonstrate current competence in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Course Format:
The course is delivered in a theoretical and practical format.
Course Length:
3 hours.
Qualification Issued:
On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited course - 22100VIC Course in Basic Oxygen Administration.
Certificate Validity:
Certification is valid for one 12 months from the completion date.
